无色透明液体。具有强折射性。易溶于乙醇、乙醚、硫化氢水溶液，微溶于水。由63%乙醇和37%水组成的恒沸混合物，恒沸点为92℃，25℃时在水中的溶解度为9. 1mL/lOOmL( H2 O)。其蒸气与空气可形成爆炸性混合物。遇明火、高热能引起燃烧爆炸。与氧化剂接触会猛烈反应。
